Who Is Carly Shay?

Carly is a teenage girl that lives with her brother Spencer, who is an artist, and puts on her own Internet show with her two freidns, Freddie and Sam. Spencer and Carly live in Seattle, and her father is away in the military living in Europe. Carly's grandfather visits occassionally from his home town, Yakima, WA.

Carly, Sam and Freddie got the idea of their Web show when Sam, Carly's best friend, took their teacher's (Ms. Briggs) head and photoshopped it onto the body of a rhinoceros. When Ms. Briggs finally saw the picture, she lost it and Carly knew that if Ms. Briggs found out that Sam did it, Sam would get kicked out of school. Carly bailed Sam out and took the rap for the picture. Ms. Briggs decided to punish Carly by putting her in charge of the auditions for the school's talent show on a Saturday. The auditions took all day! Carly decided since the whole mess was Sam's fault, that Sam would help her.

Carly needed to tape the auditions and didn't have a video camera, and Freddie, who is in love with Carly, volunteered to help by taping the auditions. There were a couple of neat auditions but most of them were really lame. During one of the lame ones, Freddie began taping Carly and Sam when they started making fun of Ms. Briggs. The girls didn;t know that he was taping them, and they were really funny.

After all of the audtions, Freddie was supposed to download the videos onto a Web site, but he really messed up. He download the vidoe of the girls making fun of Miss Briggs instead of the audition tapes! When Carly and Sam found out they lost it. Freddie tried to erase the videos but couldn't do it until Monday morining, but by then it was too late! Miss Briggs had already found out.

The good news was that the video clip of Carly and Sam making fun of Miss Briggs was a huge hit on the Web. The reaction to the video lead the trio to come up with the idea of making their own web show on a weekly basis and iCarly was born!

Carly is a calm and cool character that doesn't get too cranked and always comes up with a good plan to deal with whatever problem the group is facing.
